#5 – Chief Keef Endures Childish Gambino
While Noisey probably didn’t intend for this to be an interview, Chief Keef’s completely apathetic approach to Gambino – even to his questions – sort of turned it into one. I wonder if Sosa even knew that Gambino was a rapper, or that this was the premise of the appearance.
#4 – Guy With Glasses Interviews Machine Gun Kelly
Nerdy kind-of-ebonics-speaking white guy matches his argyle half-zip with his fitted, then asks Kells why Midwestern white kids are so mad, which makes him even madder. A moody MGK rails against the industry because he wants to be industry but basically isn’t that good at it. “I can’t tell if you’re mocking me or not.”
#3 – Drunk and High DMX Showcases a Motley Crew of Ruff Ryders
X calls in a reluctant assemblage of Ruff Ryders, struggles through a bunch of drops, and shares a suspect moment with a kid who wants a drop, at 2:38. Subdued barks escape from deep inside the haze of psychoactive drugs.
#2 – Vice Nerd Interviews Young Jeezy
Long before Noisey was invented, Vice decided to send their nerdiest punk writer to sit awkwardly in a room with Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy for a couple minutes. While the editing job probably made this seem even more awkward than it really was, it was clear that things in and of themselves got very uncomfortable. I imagine this was one of the moments which led Jeezy to question why he started rapping. “Are you done teaching now?”
#1 – Charlamagne Tha God Makes Lil’ Mama Cry
Shortly after Lil’ Mama claimed that Nicki Minaj stole her style and crashed the stage On Jay-Z and Alicia Keys for ‘Empire State of Mind’ at the Madison Square Garden, Envy, Yee, and Charlamagne invited her into the Power 105.1 studios for an absolutely ruthless Charlamagne roasting. In the process, she ponders an escape to Paris, explains her old-looking face, and – for some reason – references a definitely non-existent track with Snoop Dogg. It’s really sad that Charlamagne has reached his zenith in the post-radio era of rap, because he’s the funniest guy on the waves. It’s long, but let the tension build.
YALL ACTING AS IF THESE RAPPERS ARENT STILL HUMAN BEINGS .. WHATS THE PURPOSE OF THIS POST? TO SHOW A GANGSTA RAPPER AINT TOUGH BY EXPOSING HIS / HER HUMAN SIDE?? SMFH
I think they’re doing the exact opposite of what you just mentioned…
